After recently publishing new flood risk rules, Auckland Council has put up a step-by-step guide to a Flood Risk Assessment for homeowners to help to assess flood risk and the ratings. The guide takes homeowners through a number of steps to help them get their home categorised under the rules, before saying that the final step (nine) is that a final report and categorization letter will be sent to the homeowner. 👉 Read the full article to learn more: https://lnkd.in/dU4zzur7

Thrilled to be Fletcher Living's & Watercare Services Limited partner for the water saving solutions in #LowCO. 8,500 litres of Aquacomb water storage under the house & Hydraloop water recycling system installed could lead to up to 80% saving in water use!
Our team delighted yesterday afternoon to be in attendance at the official opening of LowCO, a low carbon, low energy, low water use sustainable housing initiative by Fletcher Living located in Waiata Shores, Takanini, Auckland. The Honourable, Chris Penk MP Minister of Building and Construction cut the (suitably sustainable) hemp ribbon to open the development. LowCo is an innovative pilot home project, and is the result of impressive collaboration between many, many organisations who asked how could they help achieve the vision that had been laid out. That group rightly proud. Also a proud UDINZ moment, as that illustrious group of collaborators included quite a few of our members: Fletcher Living (plus many across the Fletcher Building Group) and Watercare Services Limited were the key collaborators, but the group also involved Watersmart and Beca, with NZGBC undertaking the rating and awarding the home a 10 Homestar rating! The objective was a home with seven times less carbon than a standard New Zealand built home that is healthier, warmer, drier and more sustainable over its life cycle (that's embodied and operational savings on water, energy and materials). Data will be collected over an initial three year period (of tenancy) to demonstrate the concept works. Great to see this exemplar (a 3 Bedroom 11/2 Bath stand alone home) and its townhouse terrace “cousins” down the road (four homes in total) - leading the way on what can be done. Check out the link to more information on Fletcher Livings website in the comments below. We’ll look forward to hearing from the team on what they've done, conducting a site tour and sharing further technical case study material once developed. All the IP to be made freely available in the interests of the sector contributing towards the heavy lifting to come on climate change. #ConnectCollaborateCommunity #ResilientSustainableHealthy #whereindustryandInsightmeet #ProudMemberMoment #OurPlansfortheFuture #LowCO #WaiataShores Andrew E.
